TRIP TO JONKER WALK
(Part 1)

Jonker Walk is the historical Chinatown Street of Melaka, Malaysia. It is a flanked on both sides of the road with heritage houses. Early Chinese immigrants who got married with local Malay women lived and did their business here.

Today, the street houses many shops selling antiques, textiles, handicrafts and souvenirs. On weekends, starting Friday night at 6pm, the road is closed off for traffic and turns in a very crowded night market.

I was with Nani (local Malay engineering batch mate) when I first went here. We had a good stroll along the street. There were a lot of souvenir shops where you can find varieties of local products. I bought some souvenirs here, good price match with the product’s quality.

This place gets really crowded at night. From the main entrance of the Jonker Walk, you can see right away different stalls in both sides of the street. The ambiance of the place gets lively as the vendors display there attractive products and with some live street action business advertisement.

I like this one stall which sells sausages. You have no idea how excited I am to see this one, I haven't eaten any non-halal foods before. Had some Thai barbecue sausage, the taste is really good.
