Gua Batu Maloi : A Once In A Lifetime Experience

Gua Batu Maloi is a cave system present in the  in the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan. It is presnt inside the Tropical Rainforest found in Malaysia. What is unique about this cave system is that these caves are made up of granite rocks . We can only find two such cave systems in the whole of Malaysia ; one is the Batu Maloi an the other one is in Selangor.

The story behind Batu Maloi is so fascinating . There were two lovers , Maloi and his girlfriend . Maloi was a native of the place and his girlfriend was from the tribal community of the forest . There relationship were never accepted by the tribal people of the forest. The couple then got to know that they wont be allowed to live together by the people so they decided to elope to live a happy life . They eloped and found a shelter inside the caves in the rainforest  and lived a happy life for the rest of the days . 

                     There is a particular rock inside the cave system where we can both see both Maloi and his girlfriends image . The unique thing about this rock is that there image is formed on the rock by water which makes the rock wet in a particular shape of both Maloi and his girlfriend. The rock remains wet for all the time and there is no water source nearby it to make the rock always wet.

The Unique Experience Of Caving

Caving in the Gua Batu Maloi takes 3.5 - 4 hours depending upon the whether. Before start of the caving we will be briefed about the procedures of caving and the safety precautions to be taken during the time of caving etc. Everyone should have a headlamp and its compulsory .The attire must be any type of clothing that fully covers our legs and fully or partially covering our hands . Fully covered swimming costume is prefered. Every going for caving must not have any problem with there body which prevents them from walking , crawling or manoeuvring  in any possible  way our body can should not proceed for caving. 

                                                                  First there will be a short trek through the forest before entering the cave . After entering the cave we must manoeuvre in all the ways as possible through the gaps and holes inside the rock systems of the cave . there will be water gushing through the holes and below our feet throughout our journey through the cave. In some places we need to dive into the water present between two rocks which will take us to the next path . After manoeuvring like this for 

3.5-4 hours we will finish our caving. After getting out of the cave we will have another short trek through the forest to reach our camp. There is a total of 12 checkpoints throughout the cave and the 12th checkpoint has the rock of Maloi and his girlfriend.

My Personal Review

In my opinion the caving is a wonderful experience. It is so adventures that in some places we need to overcome our fear to survive and to proceed to the next path. For sure everyone will have lots of fun and we will have instructors to guide us. Old and injured people are not prefered to go for caving. The total fee is RM 40 for Malaysians and 80 for foreigners. I request everyone to go enjoy and experience yourself the wonders of  Gua Batu Maloi .
