Controlling is the final function of management. It ensures that the other functions are being followed correctly by every employee of any organization or company and monitoring the flow of work towards obtaining the objectives of the company in regards with the standards of performance established by the organization or company based on what the company is aiming for.
Measure the actual performance

It is also the process of determining whether or not proper progress is being comply towards obtaining the objectives the company. Monitoring the performance of the employee and collecting information for the statistics used for checking the progress on the aim of the company.
Compare the actual performance with the expected standards

The information acquired from the performance of every employee of the company or organization are being compared to the standards of performance that was established by the organization or company in order to identify the problem areas and issues or notice any pattern that might actually be helpful in working efficiently.
Take corrective action

After monitoring the performance of the team and comparing it against the standards you’ve organized, you can look deeper on the issue and take corrective action more easily or may be able to identify other ways of improving their performance. Instead of realizing at the end of the month that you’ve missed your sales target by a huge margin, you can keep an eye on the situation during the process and this is the importance of Controlling.
